About Sodium Hydroxide 50% Solution, Technical Grade
Sodium Hydroxide is also known as lye and soda. Sodium Hydroxide is an inorganic chemical that appears as a white, corrosive, crystalline solid with hygroscopic nature. It's also called "caustic" because of its strong basic nature, which releases large amount of heat when combined with water or neutralized with an acid.
Technical Grade is utilized for commercial and industrial purposes, but it is not pure enough to be used in food, drugs, or medical applications. According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), Sodium Hydroxide can be used in food processing plants as a pH control agent. The Sodium Hydroxide, Technical Grade, 50% at Lab Alley can also be used in educational labs for everyday laboratory studies.
