Description

Caustic Blue Indicator Solution appears as a dark, blue-colored liquid. It is a pH indicator and is added in small amounts to determine the pH of solutions. Lab Alley’s Caustic Blue Indicator Solution is highly pure is used as an indicator in laboratory testing with a shelf life of 12 months. It turns a solution to yellow color at pH>13.0 and blue color at pH<11.5. The ACS Grade is generally equivalent to the reagent grade and is acceptable for use in analytical applications and research laboratories. In the United States of America (USA), Lab Alley is selling its high-quality, Caustic Blue Indicator Solution, ACS Reagent Grade online at laballey.com. Due to its high purity Caustic Blue Indicator Solution, ACS Reagent Grade is highly recommended for labs and commercial applications.

About Universal Indicators From Wikipedia

A universal indicator is a pH indicator made of a solution of several compounds that exhibits several smooth colour changes over a wide range pH values to indicate the acidity or alkalinity of solutions. Although there are several commercially available universal pH indicators, most are a variation of a formula patented by Yamada in 1933. Details of this patent can be found in Chemical Abstracts. Experiments with Yamada's universal indicator are also described in the Journal of Chemical Education.

A universal indicator is typically composed of water, propan-1-ol, phenolphthalein sodium salt, sodium hydroxide, methyl red, bromothymol blue monosodium salt, and thymol blue monosodium salt. Read more here.

What Is An Indicator Solution?

A pH indicator is a halochromic chemical compound added in small amounts to a solution so the pH (acidity or basicity) of the solution can be determined visually. Hence, a pH indicator is a chemical detector for hydronium ions (H3O+) or hydrogen ions (H+) in the Arrhenius model. Read more here.
