It appears as a blue-green crystalline hygroscopic powder with no odor. It is soluble in Water and Alcohol at ambient conditions. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke & irritating fumes. It is commonly prepared in the lab by the reaction of Acetic Acid with Copper Oxide or Copper Carbonate.
