Completely Denatured Alcohol (CDA)
Exempt From Excise Taxation, Does Not Require Permits For Use
Denatured ethanol contains additives to render it unfit for consumption, and exempt it from excise taxation. Per TTB requirements, completely denatured ethanol, or CDA, is so thoroughly denatured that re-naturing is essentially impossible. CDA does not require permits for use, since it is unlikely that the pure form ethanol can be recovered.
