Common Uses and Applications

• Zinc chloride (ZnCl₂): This salt is often used as a catalyst in chemical reactions, such as in the production of ethyl acetate and as a flux in soldering applications. It is also used in the textile and paper industries, as a disinfectant, and in some medical preparations.
• Zinc sulfate (ZnSO₄): Zinc sulfate is commonly used in agriculture as a fertilizer to provide essential zinc nutrients to plants. It is also used in the production of dyes, pigments, and paints. In medicine, zinc sulfate is sometimes used as an oral supplement for zinc deficiency.
• Zinc carbonate (ZnCO₃): This salt is used in the production of ceramics, rubber, and plastics. It is also employed as an ingredient in cosmetics and personal care products.
• Zinc oxide (ZnO): Zinc oxide is a versatile compound with a wide range of applications. It is commonly used in sunscreens and skincare products for its ability to protect against UV radiation. It is also used in the manufacturing of rubber, ceramics, paints, and pigments. In addition, zinc oxide has antimicrobial properties and is utilized in pharmaceuticals, ointments, and bandages.
• Zinc acetate (Zn(CH₃COO)₂): Zinc acetate is often used in the production of various chemicals, including pharmaceuticals, dyes, and catalysts. It is also used in the manufacturing of rayon fibers and as a dietary supplement for zinc intake.
