Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate, also known as Cupric Sulfate Pentahydrate, Sulfate Salt Of Copper, Roman Vitriol, and Blue Vitriol, is the pentahydrate of Copper(2+) Sulfate having the chemical formula CuSO4-5H2Oor CuH10O9S. It appears as blue odorless crystals, lumps or powder and is moderately water and acid soluble at ambient conditions. It can be prepared by dissolution of oxides, carbonates, or hydroxides in Sulfuric Acid solutions. It is also formed as a byproduct of copper electrolysis and etching process.
