Silicon Dioxide Amorphous, Fumed is also known as Fumed Colloidal Silica, Synthetic Amorphous Silica, Cabosil, and Pyrogenic Silica. It occurs as a fine, white amorphous powder or granules and is typically produced by a thermal process that generates microscopic droplets of amorphous silica fused into branched, chainlike, three-dimensional secondary particles. These particles eventually agglomerate into tertiary particles forming pyrogenic Silica. It is practically insoluble in Water and Alcohol at ambient conditions. However, it is soluble in molten Alkali Oxides and a mixture of Nitric-Hydrofluoric acids. Due to its high purity, this Lab Alley product is highly recommended for labs and commercial applications.
