About Cupric Nitrate Trihydrate Crystal, Purified
Cupric Nitrate Trihydrate, also known as Copper Dinitrate Trihydrate and Copper(2+) Nitrate Trihydrate, has the chemical formula Cu(NO3)2-3H2O or CuH6N2O9. It appears as a dark blue hygroscopic crystalline powder with no odor. It is soluble in Water and Alcohol at ambient conditions. When heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes of Nitrogen Oxides and Copper Oxides. It is often produced by treating Copper or Copper Oxide with Nitric Acid followed by 13 | P a g eevaporation and crystallization. Purified Grade, also known as Pure or Practical Grade, refers to those high-purity compounds that do not fulfill the ACS, the USP, or the FCC grade requirements. They are mostly used in conjunction with Lab Grade chemicals.
