Cupric Sulfide, also known as Copper(II) Sulphide, Thioxocopper, Copper Monosulfide, Copper (2+) Sulfide, Copper Blue, Oil Blue, and Horace Vernet's Blue, has the chemical formula CuS. It appears as air and moisture-sensitive black powder or lumps with no odor. It is insoluble in Water, Alcohol, and Alkaline solutions at ambient conditions. When heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes of Sulfur Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Metal Oxide. It is commonly prepared by passing Hydrogen Sulfide gas into a solution of Copper salt. The Analytical Reagent Grade is generally equivalent to the American Chemical Society (ACS) Grade and is acceptable for use in analytical applications and research laboratories. Lab Alley is selling its premium quality Cupric Sulfide, Analytical Reagent Grade online at laballey.com in the United States of America (USA) and highly recommends using it in research labs for precise, repetitive, and consistent results.
