Ethanol 200 Proof (100%) Denatured Alcohol contains 95% pure ethanol with 5% contents of n-Heptane, added for denaturing purposes. The maximum achievable purity of ethanol through the distillation process is only 95% with water. An azeotrope is formed by adding n-Heptane that upon removal of water gives 100% ethanol termed as Extraction Grade 100% Denatured Ethanol. Our Ethanol (200 proof) is certified from the American Chemical Society (ACS) due to its premium quality and high purity.
This 200 proof denatured ethanol contains n-heptane at 5% to make it unfit for human consumption. Different denaturants may be better suited to different applications; for example, n-heptane is a common denaturant in ethanol used for botanical extraction.
