Methyl Salicylate, also known as wintergreen oil, is a chemical substance produced by many plants such as wintergreen. Lab Alley Methyl Salicylate 99% USP/NF/FCC is produced synthetically by esterifying salicylic acid with methanol. It appears as a clear, thick liquid with a pleasant, fruity aroma that reminds of root beer. Due to its widescale use in mint sweets, the odor is frequently characterized as "minty."
Methyl salicylate is an organic compound with the formula C₆H₄. Methyl Salicylate can be used to make personal care products. It is used extensively in the United States to make topical pain relief products.
