Sulfamic Acid, also known as Amidosulfonic Acid, Aminosulfonic Acid and Amidosulfuric Acid has the chemical formula H3NO3S. It appears as a white orthorhombic crystalline, odorless solid. It is soluble in Water and slightly soluble in Methanol and Acetone. It is the simplest of the Sulfamic Acids having a single Sulfur Atom bound by Oxygen, Hydroxy, and Amino groups. It is prepared from Urea and Fuming Sulfuric Acid.
As a cleaning agent, it is mainly utilized to clean: heat exchangers, boilers, condensers, descaling toilets, jackets and coils, mineral deposits, and dairy equipment such as milk evaporators and pipelines; to remove: excess of grout on tiles, protein deposits, hard water scale, beer and milk stone, cooper corrosion, and light rust.
The ACS Grade is generally equivalent to the reagent grade and is acceptable for use in analytical applications and research laboratories.
