Triton X-100 Surfactant, also known as Octylphenol Ethoxylate, from Lab Alley, is a non-ionic Surfactant manufactured with a high purity level and is prepared by the reaction of octylphenol with ethylene oxide. The primary use for non-ionic Surfactants has been found in the area of detergent and personal care formulations and in new areas such as environmental protection systems, paper processing, and thin films. In detergent and personal care formulation, non-ionic Surfactants are represented mostly by linear alcohol ethoxylates, with the alcohols being derived from either petrochemical raw materials or natural feedstock.
The principal uses of Triton X-100 surfactant in industrial and household detergent applications and emulsifying agents. They are employed in almost every type of liquid, paste, and powdered cleaning compound, ranging from heavy-duty industrial products to gentle detergents for delicate fabrics. These surfactants are also essential ingredients of primary emulsifier mixtures used to manufacture emulsion polymers, stabilizers in latex polymers, and emulsifiers for agricultural emulsion concentrates and wettable powders.
