Lab Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
Recommended For Research Labs Or Training
Lab grade hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a clear, colorless liquid at room temperature that has a bitter taste and slightly sharp odor. Also referred to hydrogen dioxide, peroxide, and carbamide peroxide, hydrogen peroxide consists of two hydrogen and two oxygen atoms and is often found in aqueous solution ranging from 3% to 35% concentration.
Lab Alley’s lab grade hydrogen peroxide possess reasonable quality; however, it does not comply with standards set by American Chemical Society (ACS), United States Pharmacopeia (USP), or Food Chemical Codex (FCC) due to the presence of impurities. Hydrogen peroxide chemical is typically manufactured using the anthraquinone process.
Lab grade hydrogen peroxide is recommended for research labs or training. In a research lab, hydrogen peroxide may be used to disinfect and clean surfaces. As a strong oxidizer, hydrogen peroxide produces free radicals which leads to damage of biomolecules such as proteins and membrane lipids. This destroys pathogens which prevents the likelihood of infection.
Lab grade hydrogen peroxide can be applied to counters, appliances, and instrumentation to reduce the risk of illness. This product may also be used for homecare and personal applications. Lab grade hydrogen peroxide may be used as a bleaching agent to whiten paper or textiles including clothing and carpets. It is also an excellent solution to clean and disinfect beauty tools like nail clippers and tweezers.
Lab grade hydrogen peroxide may also be used in science experiments to teach lessons on thermodynamics and chemical reactions.
