Sulfuric acid reacts with two equivalents of Ammonia to produce Ammonium Sulfate, an inorganic Sulfate salt. It appears as colorless solid at room temperature having the chemical formula (NH4)2SO4. It is naturally hygroscopic and contains 21% nitrogen along with 24% Sulfur. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has declared Ammonium Sulfate as a Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) chemical making it suitable for acidity regulation in flours and bread. Any chemical that fulfils the ACS (American Chemical Society) purity criteria is referred to as the ACS Grade reagent. ACS Grade reagents can be used in high-quality research labs for reliable, consistent and repetitive results. Due to its high purity, it completely conforms to the FCC (Food Chemicals Codex) Grade and can be safely used in food, pharmaceuticals, and medications.
