Lab Alley’s Chromium Potassium Sulfate, also known as Chrome Alum and Potassium Chromium(III) Sulfate Dodecahydrate, has the chemical formula CrK(SO4)2•12H2O. It appears as purple hygroscopic solid at room temperature. It is odorless and slightly soluble in water at ambient conditions. It is normally produced by reacting Potassium Dichromate with sulfuric acid at -38°C. Laboratory grade is also known as the Chemically Pure (CP) and Laboratory Reagent (LR).
