It possesses slight iron acid odor and appears as dark yellow odorless hygroscopic crystals, powder, or lumps at room temperature. It is soluble in Water, Alcohol, Glycerol, Methanol, and Ether at ambient conditions. It can undergo thermal decomposition to emit corrosive and/or toxic fumes of Hydrogen Chloride gas, Chlorine, and Metal oxides.
