Description

Mineral spirits, often known as Mineral Turpentine, Turpentine replacement, White Spirits, Petroleum Spirits, Solvent Naphtha, and "Paint thinner" in general, is a petroleum-derived common organic solvent. The word "mineral" in "mineral spirits" or "mineral turpentine" is meant to distinguish it from distilled spirits. Mineral Spirits are insoluble in water and used in aerosols, paints, wood preservatives, lacquers, varnishes, and asphalt products as an extraction solvent, cleaning solvent, degreasing solvent, and as a general-purpose solvent. Mineral Spirits are widely used in households to clean paint brushes after use, to clean car components and equipment, to start charcoal grills, to remove adhesive residue from non-porous surfaces, and for a variety of other activities. In the United States of America, Lab Alley is offering its high-quality Mineral Spirits, Lab Grade online. For commercial, house hold and industrial purposes, Lab Alley's Mineral Spirits, Lab Grade is highly recommended.

Mineral spirits, also known as petroleum spirits, solvent naphtha (petroleum), Varsol, Stoddard Solvent, or paint thinner is a petroleum-derived clear liquid used as a common organic solvent in painting.

Mineral Spirits (White Spirits) are insoluble in water and is used as an extraction solvent, as a cleaning solvent, as a degreasing solvent and as a solvent in aerosols, paints, wood preservatives, lacquers, varnishes, and asphalt products. In western Europe about 60% of the total Mineral Spirits consumption is used in paints, lacquers and varnishes. Mineral Spirits are the most widely used solvent in the paint industry. In households, Mineral Spirits are commonly used to clean paint brushes after use, to clean auto parts and tools, as a starter fluid for charcoal grills, to remove adhesive residue from non-porous surfaces, and many other common tasks.

Mineral Spirits On Wood: As a solvent, mineral spirits work to cut through stubborn grime and buildup from polish, wax, and oils. Adding more mineral spirits to the cloth as necessary, continue rubbing the wood until the cloth no longer picks up any residue.

Mineral Spirits On Skin: Mineral spirits is a petroleum based solvent and just like other industrial solvents, can dry and irritate the skin due to a defatting action. Whats more is that solvents may have toxic contaminants and solvents can be absorbed through your skin like throwing a bucket of water through a window screen. Learn how to safely remove mineral spirits from your skin here.

Mineral spirits on skin can cause irritating rashes and skin burn. If a large amount falls on the skin or if the spirit is not washed off in time, it can burn skin tissue and create a scar.

Other Mineral Spirits Uses

Mineral spirits are an inexpensive petroleum-based replacement for the vegetable-based turpentine. It is commonly used as a paint thinner for oil-based paint and cleaning brushes, and as an organic solvent in other applications.
