Potassium Iodide, Granular, Lab Grade
Potassium Iodide (KI) is a salt of stable (non-radioactive) Iodine that can protect the thyroid gland from radiation injury by preventing absorption of radioactive iodine. The thyroid gland is the most radioactive Iodine-sensitive organ in the human body and needs appropriate protection. However, Potassium Iodide can only work against radioactive Iodine, not for other radioactive elements. Lab Alley’s Potassium Iodide, Granular, Lab Grade is reasonably pure in terms of heavy metal impurities. Lab grade chemicals possess reasonable purity but do not comply with any official standard for quality or purity and mainly used for educational and research reasons.
