3% - 6% hydrogen peroxide is a dilute aqueous solution of H2O2, mostly water by weight. At this concentration it decomposes more slowly and behaves more predictably than higher strength solutions, part of why it does not carry the same shipping restrictions. Our 6 percent Lab Grade product is stabilized, meaning a small amount of stabilizer is added to slow decomposition further and extend shelf life, while the Food Grade versions at 3 and 6 percent contain no stabilizers at all.

What's the difference between Lab Grade and Food Grade at 3% - 6% percent?
Lab Grade has decent purity, no ACS, USP, or FCC compliance behind it, fine for general cleaning and lab use. Food Grade meets Food Chemical Codex standards, skips stabilizers, and carries Kosher and Halal certification, which is what makes it suitable for food contact and personal care applications.
What does 3% versus 6% actually change?
Both are dilute solutions, mostly water, but 6 percent has roughly double the oxidizing strength of 3 percent. 3 percent is the familiar drugstore strength for minor cuts and light cleaning. 6 percent handles tougher disinfecting, bleaching, and stain removal jobs where 3 percent falls a bit short.
Why is the 6& Lab Grade product stabilized while the others are not?
Stabilizers slow decomposition and extend shelf life, useful for a general purpose lab and cleaning product that might sit on a shelf for a while. Our Food Grade products skip stabilizers entirely to meet Food Chemical Codex requirements, and the 3 percent and 5 percent Lab Grade products are sold without them too.
Do I need a permit to buy 3% - 6% hydrogen peroxide?
No. Hydrogen peroxide at these concentrations does not require a TTB permit or similar authorization. Solutions at 8 percent or below are typically not even subject to hazardous materials shipping regulation.
Which products in this range are Kosher or Halal certified?
Our 3% and 6% Food Grade products are both Kosher and Halal certified. The Lab Grade products at 3%, 5%, and 6% are not certified either way.
Which strength should I use for household cleaning versus food processing?
For general household or lab cleaning, any of the Lab Grade options work and cost less. For anything touching food, agriculture, or a personal care formulation, the Food Grade 3% or 6% is the one to use since it carries Kosher and Halal certification and skips stabilizers.
