Zinc metal dust or powder possesses a grayish shiny appearance, has no odor, and is practically
insoluble in water at ambient conditions. It is brittle at ordinary temperatures and is found naturally
in rocks, animals, plants, soil, and volcanic dust/gases. It produces toxic Zinc Oxide fumes when
heated to very high temperatures or undergoes ignition. Its principal ore is named Sphalerite, which
is a sulfide derivative of Zinc. It can be produced in two ways from its ore. The first method
involves the roasting of ore in the presence of air to produce zinc oxide, which is then heated with
Coke or Coal to around 1,100 °C producing metallic Zinc. The second method involves the
leaching of roasted Zinc Oxide with Sulfuric Acid, followed by electrolysis to produce Zinc Metal.
Laboratory Reagent (LR) and Chemically Pure (CP) are the two terms often used to describe Lab
Grade chemicals. Lab Grade chemicals do not meet any accepted quality or purity requirements
such as the ACS Grade, the USP Grade, and the FCC Grade, despite their acceptable purity. Lab
Alley is selling its premium quality Zinc Metal Powder, 325 Mesh, Lab Grade online at
laballey.com in the United States of America (USA).

About Zinc
Zinc is an essential mineral that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Zinc is an essential mineral and heavy metal that is included in most over-the-counter multivitamin and mineral supplements. Zinc is a chemical element with the symbol Zn and atomic number 30. Zinc is a slightly brittle metal at room temperature and has a blue-silvery appearance when oxidation is removed. It is the first element in group 12 of the periodic table. Read more here.
What Is Zinc Dust Used For?
Zinc Dust is used as a precipitant for many metals both to purify solutions containing metals such as copper, cadmium, gold and silver, and to reclaim these valuable minerals for further processing. Read more here.
What Is Zinc Dust?
Definition of zinc dust. : powdery metallic zinc usually containing zinc oxide in varying amounts that collects as a bluish gray powder during distillation of zinc and that is used chiefly as a reducing agent, as a pigment in corrosion-resistant coatings for iron and steel, and in sherardizing.
