Calcium Sulfate, having the chemical formula CaSO4-2H2O, is a dihydrate calcium salt. It appears as white or nearly white, odorless, crystalline solid at ambient conditions and is sparingly soluble in water. It is also known as Alabaster, Gypsum, Plaster of Paris, and Karstenite. Lab grade chemicals possess reasonable purity but do not comply with any official standard for quality or purity like the ACS Grade, the USP Grade, or the FCC Grade.
