Cream of Tartar, also known as potassium bitartrate, is a white powdery substance that is a byproduct of winemaking. It is processed from the potassium acid salt of tartaric acid. Cream of Tartar can be used in baking or as a cleaning agent when mixed with an acidic substance, such as lemon juice or white vinegar.
