About Sodium Thiosulfate, Anhydrous, USP Grade

Sodium Thiosulfate, also known as Disodium Sulfurothioate, Sodium Hyposulfite, Disodium Sulfurothioate, Disodium Thiosulfate, and Sodium Thiosulphate, has the chemical formula Na2S2O3. Its anhydrous form appears as colorless to white hygroscopic crystals or crystalline powder with no odor. It is sparingly soluble in Water and insoluble in Alcohol at ambient conditions. When heated to around 300 o C, it undergoes decomposition emitting highly toxic fumes of Disodium Oxide and Sulfur Oxides. Commercially, it is produced by reacting by-product liquid of Sodium Sulfide synthesis with Sulfur Dioxide. A USP Grade chemical is the one that conforms to the criteria of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). A substance that has received the USPGrade certification can be used in food, drug, or medical applications. Due to the high purity, our Sodium Thiosulfate, Anhydrous, is a USP Grade chemical.
