Ferric Nitrate, also known as Ferric Nitrate Hydrate and Iron(III) Nitrate Nonahydrate, usually appears in its nonahydrate form having the chemical formula Fe(NO3)-9H2O or FeH18N3O18. It appears as Off-white to violet odorless hygroscopic crystals and is soluble in water, alcohol, acetone at ambient conditions. When heated to decomposition, it emits corrosive and/or toxic fumes of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx). Laboratory grade is also known as the Chemically Pure (CP) and Laboratory Reagent (LR).
