The Ferroxyl Test Solution with Nitric Acid, often referred to as a Ferroxyl Test, specified in ASTM A 380-99, section 7.3.4, is a chemical solution used to detect the presence of iron in materials or surfaces. It's primarily employed to identify the presence of free iron or iron contamination on surfaces, particularly in industries where the prevention of iron contamination is crucial, such as in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Ferroxyl Test Solution with Nitric Acid contains 3% by weight Potassium Ferricyanide (ACS reagent grade) along with 3% by weight Nitric Acid (ACS reagent grade) in 94% distilled water.
