About Sodium Nitrate, Granular, ACS Grade
Sodium Nitrate, also known as Chile Salpeter, Niter, Soda Niter, Etabisulfite, Cubic Niter, and Chile Saltpeter, has the chemical formula NaNO3 or NNaO3. It appears as colorless or white hygroscopic crystals or crystalline powder with no odor and slightly bitter taste. It is freely soluble in Water and Alcohol at ambient conditions. Upon heating, it can undergo decomposition producing Nitrogen Oxides and Oxygen, which can lead to fire hazards. On a lab scale, it is produced synthetically by reacting Nitric Acid with Sodium Carbonate.
An ACS Grade reagent is a chemical that meets the purity requirements of the American Chemical Society. For dependable, consistent, and repeatable findings, ACS Grade reagents can be utilized in high-quality research labs.
