Common Uses and Applications
- Sodium Chloride (NaCl): Commonly known as table salt, it is used as a seasoning and preservative for food. Sodium chloride is also used in the production of chlorine and sodium hydroxide.
- Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3): Also known as baking soda, it is commonly used in baking and as a household cleaning agent. Sodium bicarbonate is also used in antacids to relieve heartburn and indigestion.
- Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3): Also called soda ash or washing soda, it is used in the production of glass, paper, and soaps. Sodium carbonate is also used as a water softener and pH regulator.
- Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH): Also known as caustic soda, it is a strong base and widely used in various industrial processes, such as soap and detergent manufacturing, paper production, and water treatment.
