About Isopropyl Alcohol 70% Spray Bottle Lab Grade
Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) acts as an antibacterial agent in solutions having 60 to 90% alcohol and 10 to 40% purified water. When alcoholic concentrations fall below 50%, the disinfectant's effectiveness is compromised. Notably, greater alcohol concentrations do not result in improved bactericidal, virucidal, or fungicidal effects. When using isopropyl alcohol to kill or limit the growth of harmful pathogens, the presence of water is critical because it behaves as a catalyst that aids in the denaturation of proteins in vegetative cell membranes. 70% IPA solutions penetrates the cell wall more readily, allowing the microbe to infiltrate the whole cell, coagulate all proteins, and kill the microorganisms.
